Identification Documents
This page details the identification documents you will need to provide to support your CRB application.
A minimum of three original documents, at least one of which must be from Category 1. If you cannot produce any documents from Category 1, then we need to see five original documents from Category 2.
Two ID documents from same source (ie. 2 concurrent bank statements from same bank) will only count as one piece of evidence.
Please note that your current address should be shown on at least one of these documents and it must be less than 3 months old.
Category 1 documents
- A valid passport
- A driver’s licence
- Valid photo id (EU only)
- Original UK Birth Certificate (issued within 12 months of the date of birth)
- National Insurance card
Category 2 documents
The documents below should be less than 3 months old:
- Bank/Building Society statement
- Credit card statement
- Store card statement
- Addressed payslip
- Utility bills such as: Electricity, Gas, Water, Telephone, Mobile phone
The documents below must have been issued within the past 12 months:
- British Work permit/VISA
- Valid TV licence
- Court summons
- Child benefit book
- Correspondence from: Local Authority e.g. letter from University, or loan Authority
- The Inland Revenue
NB: You must provide at least one piece of address ID which is less than 3 months old.
